The short version: We don't collect telemetry. We don't track your usage. When you buy a BalanciaAI system, your data stays on your hardware in your home or office. We have no access to it.
1. Who We Are
BalanciaAI is operated by Ben Paterson in Pleasanton, California. We sell self-hosted computing hardware and software systems. Our website is balanciaai.org.
2. What We Collect on This Website
When you visit balanciaai.org, we collect minimal data:
- Server logs: Your IP address, browser type, and pages visited are recorded in standard web server logs. These are used for security monitoring and are retained for 30 days.
- Order form submissions: If you fill out our order form, we collect the information you provide (name, email, phone, address) to process your order.
- No analytics tracking: We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any third-party tracking scripts.
- No cookies: This website does not set tracking cookies. The only cookies used are functional session cookies if you interact with our demo tools.
3. What We Do NOT Collect
This is the important part:
- No telemetry from your BalanciaAI system. Once your hardware is delivered and set up, we have zero access to your data. Your files, emails, photos, documents, smart home data, and AI conversations stay on your hardware.
- No phone-home functionality. Our software does not call back to our servers. There is no usage reporting, crash reporting, or feature analytics sent to us.
- No third-party data sharing. We do not sell, rent, or share your information with anyone.
This is the whole point of self-hosting. Unlike cloud services where your data lives on someone else's computer, a BalanciaAI system means your data never leaves your premises.
4. How We Use Your Information
Information collected through our order form is used solely to:
- Process and deliver your order
- Provide setup support during initial deployment
- Send order status updates
- Respond to support requests you initiate
We do not send marketing emails unless you explicitly opt in. We do not add you to mailing lists.
5. Customer Support Access
If you contact us for support, we may ask you to grant temporary remote access to troubleshoot an issue. This access is:
- Only initiated at your request
- Limited to the specific issue being resolved
- Revoked immediately after the support session ends
- Never used to access your personal files or data
6. Data on Your BalanciaAI System
Your BalanciaAI system runs open-source software. You have full control over:
- All data stored on your system
- Who can access your services
- What services are enabled or disabled
- Network access and VPN configuration
- Backup and data retention policies
You are the administrator. We provide the tools; you control the data.
7. Third-Party Services
Our website uses:
- Google Fonts: Font files are loaded from Google's CDN when you visit our website. This is the only third-party resource loaded.
Your BalanciaAI system does not depend on any third-party cloud services to function. All services run locally on your hardware.
8. Data Retention
- Server logs: 30 days
- Order records: Retained for warranty and support purposes (typically 3 years)
- Support correspondence: Retained for the duration of your support period
You may request deletion of your personal information at any time by contacting us.
9. Children's Privacy
Our website and products are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
